The University of Nebraska Medical Center will open its Events Center for public rental starting March 1. The space is available during evenings on weekdays, and during the day and evening on weekends.
The Dr. Stanley M. and Dorothy Truhlsen Campus Events Center is housed on the first floor of the Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education. The Sorrell Center, which was built with private funds, opened in 2008 and is located on the northeast corner of 42nd and Emile Streets.
The Events Center offers 6,800 square feet of modern, versatile space to host a variety of events including weddings, conferences, receptions and more. It features a large ballroom that can accommodate up to 500 people seated for a lecture style program or up to 350 people for a sit-down meal. It also includes a large glass atrium with granite floors, state-of-the-art technology and A/V capabilities, professional staff and a convenient midtown location.
“This is one of the premier facilities in Omaha for special events,” said Lisa Metzger Grotrian, Events Center coordinator at UNMC. “We hope people will consider it when planning their events.”
