The University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry Class of 2009 got a 100 percent pass rate on the second part of its national board exams.

The 100 percent pass rate is nothing new to the Class of 2009. The class also has a 100 percent pass rate on the first part of their national board exams. There are 47 students in the class.

"The national failure rates for the Dental National Boards (either Part I or Part II) are about 10 percent, so for an entire class to have 100 percent passing on the first administration is a significant accomplishment," said John Reinhardt, D.D.S., dean of the College of Dentistry.

Over the past 20 years, the only other UNMC dental class to have a 100 percent pass rate on the national board exams was the Class of 2006.

"This success is a tribute to the bright, hardworking students and to the exceptional faculty who teach them," Dr. Reinhardt said.
