UNMC College of Dentistry offers free seminar to dentists and dental hygienists

The University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry is offering a free seminar to dentists and dental hygienists May 5-8.

The 20th Annual Continuing Education Caravan will provide updates in dentistry to dental professionals in four Nebraska cities. Those who attend also will receive 3.5 hours of free continuing dental education credit.

The caravan will stop in Ashland, North Platte, Alliance and Grand Island. Two of the topics to be presented: cone-beam CT imaging by John Brand, D.D.S., associate professor of oral biology and caring for the irradiated patient by Paul Hansen, D.D.S., assistant professor in adult restorative dentistry.

In addition, John Reinhardt, D.D.S., dean of the UNMC College of Dentistry, will present a brief update on education, research, patient care and outreach activities at the college. Dr. Reinhardt is available for media interviews following the presentations.

The programs will run from 1 to 5 p.m. at each of the following locations:

May 5 – Ashland, Quarry Oaks Golf Club, 16600 Quarry Oaks Drive.

May 6 – North Platte, Quality Inn & Suites Sandhills Convention Center.

May 7 – Alliance, Alliance Learning Center, 1750 Sweetwater Ave.

May 8 – Grand Island, Holiday Inn Interstate.

The agenda at each location is as follows:

1 p.m. – Greeting and introduction by Myron L. Pudwill, D.D.S., associate professor in the department of adult restorative dentistry.

1:10 p.m. – UNMC College of Dentistry update by Dean John Reinhardt, D.D.S.

1:30 p.m. – "Cone-beam CT: Innovative Imaging" by John Brand, D.D.S.

3:15 p.m. – "Caring for the Irradiated Cancer Patient" by Paul Hansen, D.D.S.

5 p.m. – Adjourn
