University of Nebraska Medical Center medical students will host its first American Medical Association Medical Student Section Omaha Health Fair at Assumption Elementary School, 22 nd  and U Streets, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sept. 30.

Students and physicians will provide free health screenings, including blood pressure, cholesterol, vision and hearing, amongst others, as well as information regarding diabetes, safety, pregnancy and prenatal care, and dental care. Twenty information and screening booths will be featured, as well as Spanish translators, a sampling of free health products and educational information.

“This is one of the most ambitious community health projects organized by medical students of the UNMC chapter of the American Medical Association,” said Sarah Dance, UNMC medical student. "Any support we can get is greatly appreciated.”

She said the event may become an annual event that will expand.
