Dental Museum open house set for Sept. 17-22 at UNMC’s College of Dentistry in Lincoln The University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry’s museum of dental artifacts will be open to the public for free with tours beginning Sept. 17 and lasting six days. The collection will be displayed in Room 31 on the lower level of the UNMC College of Dentistry at 40th and Holdrege streets in Lincoln. Free parking is available on the east side of the building in the patient parking lot. New to the display are several dental chairs dating from 1855 to 1880. The display also features a collection of tooth extraction instruments dating from the 1500s, period dental offices from the 1850s to the 1930s, as well as thousands of dental artifacts including dental cabinets, X-ray machines and instruments. “This display represents one of the largest collections of historic dental items (dating from the 1850’s to the present) in the U.S,” said Stan Harn, Ph.D., professor of oral biology and curator of the museum.
