UNMC announces the appointments of 4 faculty to professional positions

Paul M. Paulman, M.D., professor and pre-doctoral director in the department of family medicine at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, has been named to a 12-member task force by the National Board of Medical Examiners to study and update the examination for the family medicine rotation. The NBME develops the United States Medical License Exam and also develops subject examinations for each of the major clinical disciplines. This is the first time a task force has been formed to work for the NBME on the family medicine test.
 
Jeffrey Baldwin, Pharm.D., associate professor, UNMC College of Pharmacy, is the recipient of the Nebraska Pharmacists Association’s 2005 Bowl of Hygeia Award for outstanding community service. The Bowl of Hygeia is the most widely recognized international symbol for the pharmacy profession and is considered their most prestigious award.
 
Steven Seifert, M.D., medical director of the Nebraska Regional Poison Center and professor of medical toxicology in the department of surgery and section of emergency medicine at UNMC, was recently elected to the board of directors of the American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC).
 
Steven Hinrichs, M.D., director of the Center for Biosecurity for the University of Nebraska, and professor of pathology and microbiology, UNMC College of Medicine, has been selected as a member-at-large of the Association of Public Health Laboratories. The APHL works to safeguard the public’s health by strengthening public health laboratories in the United States and across the world. In collaboration with members, APHL advances laboratory systems and practices, and promotes policies that support healthy communities.
