Women are invited to attend the fourth annual Omaha Womens Health and
Wellness Conference on Friday, Oct. 19, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Holiday
Inn Convention Center, 72nd & Grover.
The conference includes: educational sessions about fatigue, alternative
medicine, the value of sexuality, women and gambling addictions, and a
panel discussion on hormone replacement therapy, as well as continental
breakfast and luncheon with keynote speakers. The conference also will
address the issue of self-care an topic of growing interest in which
people are educated on when to seek medical advice.
Health and wellness exhibits are planned, as well as a variety of screenings,
including thyroid function, glaucoma, blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol
and depression screenings. A physicians assistant and nurse practitioner
will be available to answer health-related questions. The conference is
sponsored by the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Olson Center for
Womens Health, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, Wellness Council of
the Midlands and Nebraska Health System.
Cost of the conference is $30. Limited scholarships are available for
women with financial restrictions. Nurses can receive continuing education
credits for an additional $30. Health screenings will be available for
cholesterol, blood pressure and glaucoma.
Breakfast keynote speaker is Anne Marie Aita, Omaha motivational/humorist
and the luncheon keynote speaker is Mary Maxwell, Omaha humorist.
