Larry Willis, Ed.D., has joined the University of Nebraska Medical Center
as programming director for the Center for Continuing Education.
Dr. Willis has served in executive positions at three Midwest community
colleges during the past 11 years. Most recently, he served as vice president
of educational affairs at Omaha’s Metropolitan Community College.
Previously, he served as dean of instruction at Seward County Community
College in Liberal, Kan., and as director of career programs at Kirkwood
Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He also served for 13 years as a professional staff member within the
adult and vocational education division of the Teachers College at the
University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Dr. Willis said his top priority in his new position is to continue
to pursue quality continuing education programs, which provide easy, convenient
access, for the medical profession.
“Technology needs to be integrated into the teaching and learning process
when it improves access and student outcomes,” Dr. Willis said.
A native of Grand Island, Dr. Willis received his undergraduate and
graduate degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
UNMC is the only public academic health science center in the state.
Through its commitment to research, education and patient care, UNMC has
established itself as one of the country’s leading centers for cancer research
and treatment and solid organ transplantation. More than $34 million in
research grants and contracts are awarded to UNMC scientists annually.
In addition, UNMC’s educational programs are responsible for training more
health professionals practicing in Nebraska than any other institution.
