Benes Cattle Company near Valparaiso Selected as Site of 2002 Cattlemen’s Ball of Nebraska

Benes Cattle Company near Valparaiso, Neb. has been selected as the site of the 2002 Cattlemens Ball of Nebraska to be held on June 1. The ball hosts will be Dan and Kathy Benes along with Dans parents, Ermin and Delores Benes and family. The Benes Cattle Company is located 25 miles northwest of Lincoln near Highway 79.

The Cattlemens Ball is held each year to showcase rural Nebraska, promote beef in a healthy diet and to raise money for health care research. The UNMC Eppley Cancer Center in Omaha is the primary recipient of this fund raising effort with 90 percent of the proceeds going toward cancer research programs at Eppley. The remaining 10 percent of the funds raised stay in the local area and are used for health care activities. Chairpersons for the 2002 event will be Dr. Elliott and Lynne Rustad of Lincoln.

“We are looking forward to having this premier event in the scenic Branched Oak Lake area of Eastern Nebraska,” said Barbara Martinson of Scottsbluff, who is chairperson of the Cattlemens Ball Advisory Board.
