UNMC College of Dentistry Offers Free Seminar for Dentists, Hygienists in Mahoney State Park, North Platte, Alliance, Grand Island

The University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry is offering

a free, four-hour seminar that provides updates in dentistry to dentists

and dental hygienists May 7 through 11 through its 14th Annual Continuing

Education Caravan. Dental professionals will receive 3.5 hours of free

continuing education credit.

The caravan will stop in Mahoney State Park, North Platte, Alliance

and Grand Island (see below).

Topics to be presented include: Potpourri of Oral Pathology, a review

and update on clinical oral pathology and oral medicine with emphasis on

lesions commonly seen in dental practice, especially those difficult to

diagnose and manage; Implant Reconstruction for the Compromised Patient,

a look at dental implants in people with head and neck cancer, mouth trauma

or congenital defects. In addition, John Reinhardt, D.D.S., dean of the

UNMC College of Dentistry, will present a brief update on education, research

and patient care activities at the college.

The programs will run from 1 to 5 p.m. at each of the following locations:

May 7 — Mahoney State Park (between Omaha and Lincoln) at Park Lodge,

lower level

May 9 — North Platte Quality Inn & Suites/Sandhills Convention

Center near interstate

May 10 Alliance, Alliance Country Club

May 11 — Grand Island, Holiday Inn Interstate

1 p.m. Greeting and introduction by Myron Pudwill, D.D.S., assistant

dean for student and alumni affairs

1:10 p.m. — UNMC College of Dentistry update by Dr. Reinhardt

1:30 p.m. Potpourri of Oral Biology by Donald Cohen, D.M.D., professor

of oral biology/oral medicine, Department of Oral Biology

3:15 p.m. Implant Reconstruction for the Compromised Patient by

Paul Sheridan, D.D.S., instructor, Department of Otolaryngology Head and

Neck Surgery and Oral Facial Prosthetics and Dental Oncology

5 p.m. — Adjourn
