LEAD fellows visit UNMC

Twenty fellows from the Nebraska LEAD (Leadership Education/Action Development) program, visited the University of Nebraska Medical Center on Feb. 28 and March 1. The group was learning more about UNMC’s rural initiatives, outreach and educational efforts as part of the  LEAD program.

Housed at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, LEAD is a statewide agricultural leadership development program designed to increase knowledge and understanding of economics and social changes affecting agriculture and rural areas. It is now in its 32nd year.

Each year, LEAD provides 30 of Nebraska's most promising adult men and women agriculturalists an opportunity to participate in an intensive two-year educational program designed to enhance the leadership development essential for the long-term future of farming/ranching and agribusiness in Nebraska and the nation.

While at UNMC, the LEAD participants toured various areas of the campus and heard presentations about the importance of public health in rural Nebraska, the Central States Center for Agricultural Safety and Health, the Rural Health Education Network and animal feeding operations, and air quality.
