Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center – Construction update; style guide available

Excavation work is well under way and the footprint of the new Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center is starting to take shape.

The following notifications will be posted as changes occur, and we ask that you mention these updates to your colleagues.

Ongoing projects:

Demolition of Durham Outpatient Center dock

Efforts to demolish the Durham Outpatient Center dock are in progress, and construction personnel have started removing utilities which will likely result in additional noise. Work at this location is expected to last until mid-February. Be aware of these activities and observe all safety and directional signage around the site.

Utility work at 44th Street and Dewey Avenue

Work is underway at 44th Street and Dewey Avenue to prepare utility connections for the new Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. During this time, a flagman will be present to direct traffic. Access to the emergency department, Munroe-Meyer Institute, J.P. Lord School and Lot 3 will be maintained. Work is expected to last until early February.

Durham Research Center walkway modification
Since Jan. 20, exit walkways have been changed at the east front entry of Durham Research Center. Pedestrians are asked to follow posted signage.
