UNMC extends ice skating season through Jan. 19

The University of Nebraska Medical Center’s ice rink will be open through Sunday, Jan. 19. It will be closed beginning Jan. 20.

The rink was originally set to close on Jan. 11, following the 24-hour UNMC Skate-a-thon for Parkinson's.

The rink is located just east of 42nd Street midway between Emile Street and Dewey Avenue on the north side of the Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education building. It features concessions, music and decorations.

Members of the public can skate for a $7 fee, which includes skate rental.

The rink is reserved Friday and Saturday (Jan. 10-11) for the UNMC Skate-a-thon for Parkinson's — otherwise, normal hours will remain in place. They are:

  • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
  • 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday.
  • Noon to 10 p.m., Saturday.
  • Noon to 8 p.m., Sunday.

Through world-class research and patient care, UNMC generates breakthroughs that make life better for people throughout Nebraska and beyond. Its education programs train more health professionals than any other institution in the state. Learn more at unmc.edu and follow us on social media.
