Nursing Showcase Nov. 3 to show path to being a nursing student

The University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Nursing will hold a Nursing Showcase on Sunday, Nov. 3, from 2 to 4 p.m., for individuals interested in being a nurse. The event will be held in the college’s Center for Nursing Science building at 4101 Dewey Ave.

Attendees will learn about various nursing programs, requirements, how to be a successful applicant, what it’s like to be a nursing student, scholarships and financial aid, the future of nursing and other issues.

The event is targeted towards those interested in learning about pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN), including high school students and their parents, college students, and current nurses. UNMC nursing students, faculty and staff also will be on hand to answer questions and demonstrate state-of-the-art patient simulation labs.

The college, which has expanded the number of students in its bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral programs to address Nebraska’s nursing shortage, offers traditional and accelerated BSN programs in nursing in five locations: Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney, Scottsbluff and Norfolk as well as an MSN program with specialty areas in leadership and for nurse practitioners.

Doors open at 1:30 p.m. Parking is available in the parking garage and surface parking areas north and east of the college.
