The School of Allied Health Professions’ inaugural all-school reunion, “Allies Assemble,” will take place this Friday and Saturday on the UNMC campus.

This week, UNMC Today will run short profiles on some of the alums who are returning to UNMC for this inaugural event, having been honored with departmental awards.

Here are the fifth and sixth of eight honorees who will be profiled this week in UNMC Today.

Carol (Farha) McGlade
Radiation Science Technology Education alumni chapter

Carol McGlade graduated from the UNMC School of Allied Health Professions twice, with an associate’s degree in radiologic technology in 1981, and then a bachelor’s in 1982.

And so you’ll find her rallying alumni at events in Omaha and across the state. She is the founding president of the Radiation Science Technology Education alumni chapter, and represents all SAHP alumni chapters on the UNMC Alumni Association board. She’s a member of the SAHP Capital Campaign Committee.

But she’s also true to her school in other ways. She’s a standardized patient at UNMC and serves as volunteer faculty. She eagerly offers advice, mentorship and support to students and colleagues. She promotes her profession.

She was the administrator of radiology at Children’s Hospital in Omaha for almost 20 years. At this year’s SAHP inaugural all-school reunion, she’s being honored with the RSTE alumni chapter’s Distinguished Alumnus award.

Gib Willett, Ph.D.
Physical Therapy alumni chapter

Gib Willett, Ph.D., physical therapy education, class of 1987, goes the extra mile.

When its longtime director stepped aside, Dr. Willett served as interim director of UNMC’s physical therapy department for two years, until a new program director came on board.

And when it comes to teaching, he’s always kept his door open to any students who might still be struggling with the complex relationship between anatomy and musculoskeletal physical therapy.

Teaching is his passion. His research and publications are focused on PT education.

And of course every winter, he educates Nebraskans on the most ergonomic way of shoveling snow.

At this year’s SAHP all-school reunion, Dr. Willett will receive the PT alumni chapter’s Distinguished Alumnus award.
