Garden walk set for June 9

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, rain or shine, the Munroe-Meyer Guild will host its 45th Garden Walk.

The event features five fantastic Omaha gardens that individuals can stroll through to view unique and creative displays in landscaping, plants, flowers and water features.

Master gardeners and vendors also will be present at some of the gardens.

Individuals can tour the following gardens at their leisure:

  • The Grove, 618 S. 184th St.;
  • Whispering Hollow at the Ridges, 1532 S. 189th Ct.;
  • Armbrust Acres, 16607 Elm St.;
  • Diamond Head, 2217 N. 155th St.; and
  • Grand Oaks, 2724 S. 96th Ave. Cir.

Proceeds from the event benefit the UNMC Munroe-Meyer Institute, which provides a variety of services for children and adults with developmental disabilities. In the past, funds have supported:

  • Gait training to improve walking in children with cerebral palsy;
  • Stipends for a graduate student preparing to teach children with disabilities; and
  • Social skills training for children and adolescents with severe social impairments.

The Munroe-Meyer Guild is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for persons with disabilities through fundraising for UNMC’s Munroe-Meyer Institute.
