Brandon Grimm, director of the Office of Public Health Practice and associate director of the Great Plains Public Health Training Center at UNMC’s College of Public Health, received the 2013 Balderson Award for the Support of Public Health Leadership Development.

He was presented the award, which is given by the Association of Schools of Public Health, during the National Public Health Leadership Development Network luncheon in St. Louis on April 25.

Grimm works to strengthen academic and practice partnerships through a commitment to practice-based research, education, service and professional education and training.

Ayman El-Mohandes, M.B.B.Ch., M.D., M.P.H., dean of UNMC’s College of Public Health, said: “Brandon represents excellence as a young leader in the college and works tirelessly to link us to the practice community. In collaboration with his colleagues, he has helped maintain the success of the leadership institute, which brings visibility to the college, and is seen as an important source of professional development, not only in Nebraska but also regionally.”

The Balderson Award for the Support of Public Health Leadership Development recognizes individuals who play an important role in the support and promotion of the public health leadership institutes and/or public health leadership in general.
