Describe your research briefly in layman’s terms.
We study how cells, especially cancer cells, die in response to different stress signals.
How does your research contribute to science and/or health care?
We strive to gain knowledge on the mechanism of cell death so that we may be able to design approaches to prevent premature death of normal cells, and enhance or accelerate the death of cancer cells.
What is the best piece of advice anyone ever gave you, professional or personal?
My postdoctoral advisor told me that building a lasting building can only start with solid foundation.
List three things few people know about you.
- Both my dad and I were track and field athletes at the same college, in different years though.
- While my parents have good hands in what they do (both exceptionally skilled surgeons), I have a good backhand in pingpong.
- I take my daughter to the movies regularly. I fall asleep, and she does not know it yet.
