Two upcoming campus events are seeking athletes to flex their muscles for people in need.
Hustle for Hunger, 3:30 p.m., April 19
What: Hustle for Hunger is a campus walk/run to commemorate the start of UNMC’s annual drive to collect food for the Food Bank of the Heartland. Runners will tackle a three-mile course around campus while walkers will trek 1.5 miles.
When: Registration, followed by quick remarks, starts at 3:30 p.m. and the “Hustle” gets under way at 3:45 p.m. The food drive runs April 22 through May 10.

Where: The event starts in the Ruth and Bill Scott Student Plaza and the course will run around the campus. See a course map.
Registration: Please register by emailing unmcevents@unmc.edu. The registration fee is a donation for the food bank. Bring your donated items to the event. All campuses are welcome to participate, as are non-UNMC family and friends!
Also: Water and bananas will be provided by Sodexo for those who participate. Free “Hustle” T-shirts” will be given to participants this year. Even if you don’t participate, come out and cheer!
Dig Us Out of the Donor Deficit, noon, May 4
What: This sand volleyball tournament event is hosted by Decreasing the Donor Deficit. All proceeds will benefit Be the Match and go toward the $100 cost of placing a new member on the
bone marrow donor registry.
When: Noon on May 4.
Where: Oleaver’s Volleyball, 1314 S. Saddle Creek Road.
Registration: Each six-person team must include at least two women. Registration is $90. Teams can register between now and April 12 on the second floor of the Sorrell Center over the lunch hour. After April 12, registration forms can be e-mailed to Autumn.shapland@unmc.edu until April 30.
Also: The tournament will be a double-elimination bracket. Food and drink will be available.
