Editor’s Note: The UNMC College of Medicine is currently in the process of seeking reaccreditation through the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). The LCME site visit is scheduled for Oct. 6-9, 2013. During the accreditation process, Hugh Stoddard, Ph.D., director and special assistant dean for medical education, will provide a monthly update on accreditation. Who is directly involved in the LCME accreditation process?
The LCME-published Guide to the Self-Study states: “The self-study task force should be broadly representative of the constituencies of the medical education program.”
In order to accomplish this goal, the task force and all of the subcommittees have been appointed with the goal of achieving a large degree of heterogeneity. Any faculty members who have a concern about any specific aspect of our program should contact the relevant subcommittee chair to be sure that those concerns are discussed during the preparation of the self-study.
