Shave your head, benefit a good cause

You could get a “cool” summer haircut and support a good cause at the same time on Friday at the annual St. Baldrick’s Foundation Shave-A-thon.

The event starts at 1 p.m. in the Durham Outpatient Center West Atrium.

Each year, participants volunteer to get their heads shaved in exchange for pledged donations to the St. Baldrick’s Foundation, which supports childhood cancer research.

Last year, UNMC pediatric oncologist Bruce Gordon, M.D., and others shed their locks and helped raise more than $7,000. You can join them this year.
