In UNMC Today’s Student Spotlight, we get to know some of these students, who will become tomorrow’s health care professionals.

- Year/program: Fourth year in environmental health, occupational health, and toxicology Ph.D. program.
What is your best memory from your time at UNMC?
My first semester, I took a class in toxicology with distant students from Lincoln. For one class, we met at Mahoney State Park, midway between Omaha and Lincoln. It was in the fall, the weather was perfect and the scene in the park was amazing. This was the first time I had a class outside a formal classroom.

I pick commitment to excellence and take this opportunity to thank the people in the UNMC mailing services. I worked with them to ship donated books during a campaign for the Egyptian universities. People in the mailing services looked for the best rates, packed boxes in an efficient way and even picked up lots of heavy boxes from my lab. I admire their dedication to their job and appreciate that they are friendly and smile at me every time I go there.
List three things people may not know about you.
- I am a mother to a lovely 7-year-old daughter named Nadeen and I have a cat named Chess (because his colors are black and white).
- I love to travel to new places, have visited towns in 10 states so far and look forward to more.
- I love to cook especially dishes from different cultures, and now I am an expert in doing lasagna and enchiladas, which are dishes that I had never cooked before I came to the States.
How wonderful to learn more about you, we have the love of cooking in common and didn't even know that! We'll have to share recipes sometime.

I appreciate these student spot lights because it lets us know a little more about our students; we often see them coming and going, but rarely have the opportunity to chat. Maha has an office up here on the 3rd floor of the MCPH and we see her here every now and then. She always has a ready smile and a hello for us. It is a pleasure to have her here with us.
