UNMC for the record

Below is a list of achievements, activities and happenings involving UNMC staff, faculty and students.

UNMC’s Denham Harman, M.D., Ph.D., the father of the Free Radical Theory on Aging, turned 96 on Tuesday.

Sixty-seven science teachers from across the metropolitan area visited UNMC on Feb. 11 to learn about health literacy, forensics, lead levels, patient simulations and living well in a complex world. The Science Matters event, sponsored by UNMC’s Recruitment and Student Engagement office, aims to give teachers new information, expose them to UNMC and encourage them to refer students to our academic programs. Students from UNMC’s High School Alliance program also shared the impact of science teachers on their career choice.

Bob Bell, who recently retired from his position as vice president for community relations development for UNeMed Corp., UNMC’s technology transfer company, received the first “At Ease Founders Award” at a Jan. 30 luncheon at the CenturyLink Center.
