What is your best memory from your time at UNMC?
My best memory is of the white coat ceremony just before we started our freshman dental classes. It was just a very proud moment for me as my mom was there and the occasion itself was just a very profound milestone for me.
Our four brand values are leadership, commitment to excellence, working together and being a trusted resource. Pick one and tell us a time you witnessed it embodied at UNMC.
A good example of working together is something that happened in my denture class last semester. I was in the pre-clinical lab, working on my dentures and was at a critical point where if it didn’t work out I would have to start all over. So, this was the first time I had attempted this step, and as happens sometimes, it didn’t go well and had to start a large portion of the project over. I was frustrated and frantically trying to catch up and my friends/classmates Trevor and Brian took notice and asked me what I needed help with. I actually ended up getting caught up on my own after hours, but those kinds of gestures only happen among exceptional individuals who understand teamwork.
List three things people may not know about you.
- I have the two most wonderful girls ever in my life, my daughter, Ella and my girlfriend, Lexi, who both live in Fargo, N.D., which is where I’ll be moving to after graduating dental school.
- I was a professional recording engineer, musician and musical educator for eight years before deciding to go back to school for dentistry.
- I find hundreds of four-leaf clovers every summer. My mom has the same knack.
