Today’s campus session sponsored by the UNMC Faculty Employee Assistance Program will help parents assist children with setting healthy boundaries with the influential adults in their lives.
Recent sex scandals involving coaches at Penn State University and Syracuse University have highlighted the need for parents to help children in this all-important task.
What: Lynda Madison, Ph.D., clinical associate professor in the department of pediatrics and psychiatry and a local private practice psychologist, will discuss the vital importance of trust between parents and children and how this helps empower children to set and enforce boundaries with other adults in their lives. Dr. Madison also will discuss ways parents can teach their children to recognize when their boundaries are threatened and how to respond should that happen.
