Student spotlight – Jacob Peterson

Education is one of the four pillars of UNMC’s mission and our students are the lifeblood of that aspect of campus life.

In UNMC Today’s Student Spotlight, we get to know some of these students, who will become tomorrow’s health care professionals.

Today we meet Jacob Peterson, a first-year medical student.

What is your best memory from your time at UNMC?

Time spent with friends. Specifically, I most enjoy the conversations we have in between studying for classes.

Our four brand values are leadership, commitment to excellence, working together and being a trusted resource. Pick one and tell us a time you witnessed it embodied at UNMC.

Working together. Classmates have shown me that they are willing to collaborate their ideas while studying. This is particular noteworthy given that our grades are, in part, determined relative to the scores of other classmates. However, I have appreciated the maturity and sacrifice that many students make in order to be helpful to others.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • I grew up in Atkinson, Neb.
  • Northwestern College was my undergraduate institution
  • I have a brother who also attends the College of Medicine. (Student Senate President Jeremy Peterson)
