Lookin at ‘U’ — Steven Daubendiek

Steven Daubendiek

Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee.

This week, we learn more about Steven Daubendiek, program specialist in international health and medical education.

  • Name: Steven Daubendiek
  • Hometown: Beatrice
  • No. of years at UNMC: 12

What is your best memory from your time at UNMC?

Winters in the old Annex 4 building huddled together with other staff around a small space heater before the building was torn down. I have some good memories from that building, even the memories that include the sudden power outages caused by two printers and a copier being used at the same time.

Our four brand values are leadership, commitment to excellence, working together and being a trusted resource. Pick one and tell us a time you witnessed it embodied at UNMC.

I’ve observed examples of UNMC employees being a trusted resource in areas ranging from tax treaties to consulting employers on how to set up and manage a process for sponsoring and employing citizens of other countries. It is not unusual to see UNMC employees reaching beyond their formal job description to provide needed information.

List three things people may not know about you.

  • I have been to China 12 times.
  • I enjoy recording and producing my own music.
  • I’m an admirer of Stephen Hawking.
