What is your best memory from your time at UNMC?
There are many good memories, but two stand out. When I worked in the College of Medicine, Sorrell Clinical Simulation Lab, one of the many skills I learned and loved was to operate the birthing mannequin for students and residents as they learned to deliver a baby. The technology as well as the instruction is fascinating!
Also, as a new employee of the College of Public Health, I was privileged to participate in the official grand opening of the new Harold M. and Beverly Maurer Center for Public Health. It was exciting to witness the opening of a new and beautiful college facility, and impressive to learn about all those who donated funds and contributed to planning, building and managing the process.

Through the many interactions I have had with faculty, students, staff and hospital employees from UNMC and The Nebraska Medical Center, I have gained a broad view and appreciation of the collaboration on this campus. As I have coordinated space, schedules, equipment and events with people from the Chancellor’s office to the personnel in facilities and environmental services, there has always been a spirit of cooperation and special effort to make things work for everyone. The level of professionalism makes it easy to manage things quickly and enjoyable along the way.
List three things people may not know about you.
- Before coming to UNMC, I worked at the University of Michigan for 2 1/2 years in the School of Nursing, and two years in the Center for the Education of Women.
- I enjoy researching my family history and working on genealogy.
- The most rewarding, enjoyable and challenging job I have ever had is that of being a full-time mother of four. I was fortunate enough to be able to stay at home to raise my children and I now have six grandchildren.
