Oddly enough my best memory from UNMC is also my worst memory! Back in spring of 2008, the CFHL was severely flooded due to a chiller pipe that burst. The damage was unprecedented and this was naturally a hard time on both our staff and our members. We as a staff team could easily have focused on the disaster and all the damage in a negative light. But instead, we ultimately decided to use it all as an opportunity to make the CFHL even better than it was before. After roughly a month of our team both reimagining and renovating our facility, we reopened our doors to an even better facility. And if you don’t believe me, just ask our members!
Our four brand values are leadership, commitment to excellence, working together and being a trusted resource. Pick one and tell us a time you witnessed it embodied at UNMC.
Trusted resource and commitment to excellence. One thing that I find particularly awesome about the CFHL is that we open our doors for free to families staying at the Ronald McDonald House, Potter’s House and The Lied Transplant Center. I’ve been told countless times by families at these facilities how great it was for them to have somewhere nearby where they could go for awhile to relieve some stress.
List three things people may not know about you.
- My ultimate random goal in life right now is to skydive for the first time before starting accelerated nursing school in January at Methodist.
- I recently had hands-down the best vacation of my life — seven days in Cancun with my entire family on my mom’s side. Thirty-plus cousins and all my aunts and uncles at an all-inclusive resort. “Fun” doesn’t even begin to describe it.
- It is my life mission to put both my favorite musician (Thomas Newman) and favorite band (Super Furry Animals) on the iPods of every person that I meet. They’re not household names … yet!
