For the seventh straight year, student enrollment at UNMC set a record high with 3,614 students enrolled for the 2011-12 school year — an increase of 3.5 percent over last year’s record of 3,493.

Graduate Studies
The twelve doctoral programs now have a total of 369 students compared to 304 last year.
College of Dentistry
The College of Dentistry admitted 46 new dental students as well as 24 new dental hygiene students, bringing enrollment in the college to 269. This year’s GPA for entering dentistry students is 3.86 and the entering dental hygiene class had a 3.45 GPA.
College of Medicine
The 130 new medical students enrolled this fall pushes total enrollment for the college to 497. The new students were selected from a total of 1,526 applicants, one of the largest numbers of applicants in the last 17 years.
College of Nursing
A total of 1,207 students are enrolled in the seven undergraduate and graduate nursing programs in Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney, Scottsbluff and Norfolk. The college received 755 qualified applicants this year for its bachelor’s degree in nursing programs for 381 slots. The incoming students’ GPA is 3.6.
College of Pharmacy
Sixty new students with a GPA of 3.42 were accepted into the College of Pharmacy’s Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) program. The new students bring the total enrollment in the four-year program to 235 students.
College of Public Health
Enrollment in the College of Public Health this fall is 147, which includes 34 doctoral students and 89 master of public health students and 24 certificate of public health students. This results in a 33 percent increase in enrollment from fall 2010.
School of Allied Health Professions
For the 2011-12 academic year, 184 new SAHP students are enrolled. Total enrollment in the school’s traditional programs is 385 students and 291 students enrolled through distance education degree programs. There were 822 applicants this year — a 6.5 percent increase from last year.
Munroe-Meyer Institute
MMI provided interdisciplinary training and practicum experiences to 167 students in the 2010-2011 academic year. Trainees included:
- Seven undergraduate students;
- 60 master’s level students;
- 50 doctoral level interns; and
- 50 post-doctoral fellows.
