Dr. Rupp takes over for Philip Smith, M.D., who has led the division since 1998. Dr. Rupp officially starts his new role on July 1. Dr. Smith will retain a faculty appointment within the division.

Dr. Longo’s new post is effective immediately. He assumes the role as Thomas Lynch, M.D., and Jason Johanning, M.D., take on new duties at the Department of Veterans Affairs Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System.

Dr. Lynch, the section’s former chief, is now chief of staff at the VA. Dr. Johanning, who led the vascular surgery section the past several months as Dr. Lynch’s VA role increased, will take on additional responsibilities in the VA’s surgery operations as well as maintaining his faculty duties at UNMC.
