Each Thursday, we randomly feature a medical center employee.

What is your best memory from your time at UNMC?
My best memory was when I received the “Silver U” recognition. It really meant a lot to me that faculty and staff appreciated me enough to nominate me for the award.
Our four brand values are leadership, commitment to excellence, working together and being a trusted resource. Pick one and tell us a time you witnessed it embodied at UNMC.
Shortly after I began working at UNMC, we began preparing for the accreditation process — compiling information and then arranging it in a manner the accreditation team members would be able to access easily. Working as a team, we were able to get the job done.
List three things people may not know about you.
- I was a very shy farm girl who grew up in rural northeast Nebraska. I loved summers because I could be out working the farm with my dad!
- I hold the 50-yard hurdle record at my high school. I qualified for the state track meet three times in high school and qualified for Junior Olympics twice running hurdles. At the Junior Olympics, I had the privilege of running next to Juanita Orduna. She was as talented as Joe Orduna — her brother who played professional football.
- I have been married for nearly 35 years. My husband and I are crazy — along with working full-time jobs, we own two small businesses — a commercial cleaning business and a hair/tanning salon.
Good to see Kris in print – what she didn't state is that she is phenomenally organized, helpful and no longer the shy farmgirl – she is always friendly and always willing to come to the aid of her co-workers – we all look forward to her smile and positive attitude each morning
