Grab your UNMC apparel and join your campus friends and colleagues on Friday, April 15 for UNMC’s Spring Fling on the Student Plaza.
In appreciation for the vital work and commitment shown by UNMC faculty, staff and students, the campus community is invited to a noontime jazz performance led by Omaha jazz legend Joe Genovesi. The hour-long performance is being brought to UNMC by The Durham Museum.
From the “Cats of Rhythm” in his early days to Harry Connick Jr.’s 1998 concert, Genovesi has performed with many great entertainers including:
- Stevie Wonder;
- Jack Jones;
- Karen Carpenter;
- Tom Jones;
- Debbie Reynolds;
- The Temptations;
- Jack Benny;
- Red Skelton;
- Jimmy Durante; and
- Bob Hope.
In addition to the musical performance, UNMC employees and students may:
- Bring lunch or purchase hot dogs, chips and soda from a hot dog vendor, who will be on site from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.;
- Enjoy appreciation cookies, which will be distributed free while they last by UNMC’s Human Resources and Public Relations staff;
- Purchase the latest UNMC apparel and merchandise from the UNMC Bookstore, which will be on site; and
- Purchase discounted tickets to two upcoming Omaha Playhouse shows — “Steel Magnolias” on May 1 and “Tuesdays with Morrie” on May 12.
In the case of inclement weather, the performance will be in the Sorrell Center, Room 2014. The bookstore and hot dog vendor will be available near the second floor commons area.
