Fu Chen, a graduate student in the College of Pharmacy, received two prestigious awards for $2,000 each from the International Association of Dental Research (IADR) at the March 16 international conference in San Diego.
The IADR is a non-profit organization with more than 11,000 members worldwide. The awards were:
- IADR/Lion Dental Research Award for junior investigators in recognition of outstanding and innovative research in basic dental science for the improvement of public dental health; and
- IADR/Colgate Research in Prevention Travel Award to support students and young investigators doing research in the area of oral disease prevention.

These micelles swiftly bind to teeth and gradually release their contents (e.g. antimicrobial, fragrant) for effective prevention and treatment of dental caries, peridontitis or halitosis.
