To celebrate Women’s History month the Durham Museum will welcome historical impersonator Angela Bartley as Rosie the Riveter for a noon performance at UNMC on Wednesday, March 9.
|
Where: Sorrell Center, Room 1005
Who: Bartley will portray Rose Monroe — who dreamed of flying in World War II as a Women’s Air Service Pilot but couldn’t because widows with children were not allowed to fight.
Follow Rosie as she moves her family the Michigan to work on bombers. While there, she would be discovered by Hollywood and placed in a war bond film that led to her becoming “Rosie the Riveter.”
Hear how after the war, Monroe would found Rose Builders, a construction firm specializing in luxury homes and about how she finally would earn her pilot’s license.
