Meet Walk and Roll Captain Robin Richards (CORRECTED)

Today we get to know Robin Richards, captain of the 2011 Walk and Roll for Disabilities, which will be held Feb. 20 at Westroads Mall.

Name: Robin Richards, daughter of Bob and Esther Richards

Age: 25

Education: Robin is a 2004 graduate from Madonna School for Exceptional Children. She currently attends a day program where she learns life skills.

Register now for the Feb. 20 event. The registration fee is $25 per person and includes a T-shirt.

Sponsored by Meyer Foundation for Disabilities, Westroads, No Frills Supermarkets and KGOR, the Walk and Roll begins at noon on the second level of Westroads mall next to Dick’s Sporting Goods. Check-in and day of registration begin at 10:30 a.m.

All proceeds go to the Meyer Foundation for Disabilities which benefits the recreation programs for adults with disabilities at MMI.




DisABILITY: Robin was born with a chromosome disorder, Trisome 15.

Favorite pastime: Traveling. She’s been to Germany, France, Italy and most recently, Hawaii.

Favorite MMI memory: Robin attended the MMI adult group’s trip to Las Vegas where they enjoyed the Beatles show and the Hoover Dam.

A close second: a pajama party as part of the MMI Girls’ Group.

Favorite form of exercise: Robin loves to ride her tandem bike with her Dad and exceeds 25 miles in a day often. She also enjoys swimming, fishing and hiking.

Her parents’ hopes for her: “Our dreams for Robin are for her to be happy, find a career she will enjoy and remain as independent as possible.”
