Parkinson’s skate-a-thon to include blanket drive for tribes

Skate-a-thon forecast

Tomorrow, KETV meteorologist Bill Randby, who will emcee Friday’s opening ceremonies for the Parkinson’s skate-a-thon, will give us a look ahead at the weather for Friday.

Those of you planning to attend the UNMC Skate-a-thon for Parkinson’s on Friday and Saturday may want to bring a blanket along to keep you warm when you’re not on the ice.

And when you’re done skating, leave the blanket — new or gently used please — at the registration tent as part of a blanket drive to benefit people on the Winnebago, Santee, Rosebud or Pine Ridge American Indian Reservations.

Full schedule

See the full schedule of events for the skate-a-thon online.

Each person who brings a blanket to the Skate-A-Thon registration tent will receive a free cup of hot chocolate or coffee.

If you can’t attend the skate-a-thon but would like to donate blankets, you can drop them off at the Center for Healthy Living front desk.
