Jialin Zheng, M.D., professor of pharmacology and experimental neurosciences and director of UNMC’s Asia Pacific Rim Development Program (APRDP), has been invited by the Chinese government to visit with the President of China, Jiantao Hu, during the Chinese leader’s visit to Washington today and Thursday.

On Thursday, Dr. Zheng will attend a meeting between Hu and 40 Chinese-American leaders from U.S. universities.
Through his work with the APRDP, Dr. Zheng has helped forge strong relationships between UNMC and several high-profile institutions in China, which have led to groundbreaking collaborations and partnerships.
What a great honor for Jialin as well as UNMC to be a part of this historic visit. Jialin's efforts to make UNMC a player in the Pacific Rim has really paid off. We should all be very proud that we have anonther Nebraska "first" in the news.
Congratulations to Jialin for the honor of participating in President Obama's welcoming ceremony and the meeting with China's president Hu. This speaks so highly of his collaborative work between UNMC and China.
Well deserved national recognition for the extraordinary success Dr. Jialin Zheng has had in leading the APRDP program and in so ably representing UNMC's international interests at home and in China. The collaborations developed under his leadership between UNMC and leading Chinese institutions are first of their kind and have brought UNMC to the attention of the international community in a most favorable light.
What a terrific honor and well deserved. It is fun to watch your eventful journey Jialin and what has been accomplished along the way.
