A committee led by Steven Hinrichs, M.D., chairman of the department of pathology and microbiology, will conduct an internal search for a new vice chancellor for research.

Dr. Rosenquist has led UNMC’s research enterprise since 1999 — a period of unprecedented growth in which research funding nearly quadrupled and infrastructure expanded dramatically.
“Under Dr. Rosenquist’s direction, UNMC’s research enterprise shot to new levels,” said UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D. “Fortunately, we have a deep pool of internal candidates who are qualified to continue the medical center’s trajectory in terms of research growth.”
Joining Dr. Hinrichs on the search committee are:
- Ann Berger, Ph.D., professor, College of Nursing;
- Alexander (Sasha) Kabanov, Ph.D., Parke-Davis Professor in Pharmaceutics and director of the Center for Drug Delivery and Nanomedicine;
- Luis Marky, Ph.D., professor, pharmaceutical sciences, faculty senate president; and
- Irving Zucker, Ph.D., professor and chairman of the department of cellular and integrative physiology.
