Impressed and grateful were two sentiments expressed by U.S. Sen. Mike Johanns on Thursday after a tour of the new UNMC Center for Nursing Science.

“The nursing shortage is a very real problem and it’s great that UNMC now has this new facility to help confront this issue,” Johanns said. “It’s a beautiful building.”
During his tour, Johanns saw the center’s simulation labs, classrooms and also met with college leaders and students.
“I was glad Sen. Johanns took the time to visit the center,” said Sarah Thompson, Ph.D., professor and associate dean for academic programs in the College of Nursing, who helped lead Johanns on his tour. “We appreciate his interest in nursing issues and we want to thank him for joining the Senate Nursing Caucus.”
