Quick, think of five things others should know about you.
That’s the theme behind a series in UNMC Today called “Lookin’ at U.” Each Thursday, we will randomly select a medical center employee to feature.
This week, we feature Jerry Schledewitz, Instructional LRC Technologist at the UNMC College of Nursing division in Scottsbluff.
Here, in his own words, are five fun facts about Jerry:
Jerry Schledewitz |
- I enjoy working with the computers and the simulation equipment here but being able to assist students is the most rewarding part of my job.
- I am married to Karen – the student adviser on this campus. We have two fantastic kids — Kelsey who is a UNMC CON alum working as a NICU nurse at the University of Colorado Hospital, and Dustin, who is in his last year of seminary in Chicago.
- In March, Dustin and his wife Erin gave us the gift of our first “grandbuddy” Elijah. Elijah was born 10 weeks early and I thank God and the great NICU docs and nurses that he came through with no long term problems.
- My Christian faith is the cornerstone of my life and has been key in every success and joy I have experienced.
- I grew up on a farm and was a farmer/ rancher for several years. But when hail and drought took the profit out of farming, I returned to college and found computer technology to be a very interesting field of study. I like being able to still live in a rural area and work in IT.
Read UNMC Today next Thursday to see who is featured in the next Lookin’ at U article. Who knows — it could be U.
Jerry, it was great to read Lookin'at U on last week. It gives me such joy to hear a young man speak and give honor to his Christian faith, recognizing where his blessing come from. May your family continue to be blessed with many more "Grandbuddies".
