Beginning Oct. 18, health-care providers at UNMC’s hospital partner, The Nebraska Medical Center, will have patient information as close as their phone or other mobile device.
With the rollout of Clinical Xpert (formerly MercuryMD), clinicians will be able to receive real-time patient data directly at the point of care via the web and multiple mobile devices — including:
- The iPhone;
- iPod touch;
- iPad;
- Windows Mobile;
- Palm; and
- Blackberry smartphones.

Steven Black, M.D., clinical instructor of plastic and reconstructive surgery, has been beta testing Clinical Xpert on his iPhone for several weeks. Prior to using the iPhone he used Clinical Xpert on a Windows-based platform. He said the improved product is more intuitive than the previous version.
“It makes life much easier,” he said. “The information is presented more clearly.
The new generation of Clinical Xpert is advantageous for clinicians and patients, Dr. Black said.
He can sync in his iPhone and immediately have the latest patient data available at his fingertips.
He also is able to get up to speed in less time with patient consults.
Clinical Xpert provides a seamless backup to the core hospital information system (HIS), so clinicians can continue to access their patient’s information even during periods of planned and unplanned system downtime.
So no matter where they are, clinicians have anytime access to their patient’s data, helping them make the most informed treatment decisions possible directly at the point of care.
Any clinician wishing to have Clinical Xpert downloaded on their mobile device can do so during one of several rollout sessions. Stop by for an apple and get a download.
