During the events, the associate professor in the College of Public Health Department of Environmental, Agricultural and Occupational Health Sciences discussed everyday environmental hazards with those in attendance.
As part of UNMC Simply Science, faculty members travel to different regions of the state and present on various topics of health care.
The visits take place four times per year and allow UNMC faculty to share some of the exciting breakthroughs that take place at the medical center. The visits also show UNMC how it can best serve communities around the state.

Describe your Simply Science experience, tell us where you went, what you talked about and who you talked to.
I went out to a number of communities in western Nebraska to talk about exposure to everyday environmental hazards, and how individuals can reduce their own exposures.
How was your presentation was received?
I felt that the presentation was received very well. Speaking to both large and small groups allowed me to address global questions, while still being able to discuss specific situations that some of the audience members faced on a daily basis.
Why would you recommend that other UNMC scientists participate in the Simply Science program?
I would recommend it to other UNMC scientists. It really allowed me to show the community the practical implications of my work and to get a better understanding of their concerns.
What was the highlight of your Simply Science experience?
I think that I was able address a number of questions that alleviated the concerns of some of the audience members, and that was the highlight of my Simple Science Experience.
