That’s the theme behind a series in UNMC Today called “Lookin’ at U.” Each Thursday, we will randomly select a medical center employee to feature.
This week, we feature Tamara Cardin, office associate in clinical laboratory science in the School of Allied Health Professions.
Here, in her own words, are some fun facts about Tamara:

- I have trained in ballet, jazz, tap and modern dance for the past 27 years. After I earned my BFA in dance, I spent five years in Chicago pursuing my professional career. I continued performing after moving back to Omaha.
- I have been teaching all styles and levels of dance for the past nine years. I currently teach modern and tap at the Jewish Community Center. I teach an adult modern class for anyone interested in tapping into their inner free spirit.
- I have lived in three large cities, all on the east side of the state and all by bodies of water: Omaha, St. Louis and Chicago.
- My family always said to me, “We don’t need to buy it. We can make it.” Because of this mantra, I have learned to dabble in many crafts. I sew, scrapbook, make jewelry, knit and work with polymer clay. My newest project: making my own glass beads and fusing glass.
- My husband and I have been friends since junior high. We started dating after I went to college and finally married on July 7, 2007.
