Steven Hinrichs, M.D., professor and chairman of the department of pathology and microbiology provided testimony on Thursday to the U.S. Health and Human Services, Health Information Policy Committee’s workgroup on Meaningful Use. Meaningful use is one of the important concepts that have been introduced by the federal government into the process of health care reform with the goal of improving utility of electronic medical information.
Judith Stribley, the director of UNMC Mouse Genome Engineering Core Facility, will retire at the end of July. Stribley has worked at UNMC for 25 years, including the last five as the mouse genome facility director. Channabasavaiah Gurumurthy, Ph.D., assistant professor of genetics and cell biology, will take over as the lab’s director and Scott Kurz has been named the facility’s manager.
This past week, the UNMC College of Public Health hosted two visitors — Nayanjeet Chaudhury, M.D., and Sudhir Satpathy, M.D. — from the Asian Institute of Public Health in Orissa, India. Both will serve as adjunct faculty members at UNMC this fall.
