Temme, a registered radiologic technologist since 1973, will serve as president of the 136,000-member national association during 2010-2011. He was installed June 27 during the society’s annual meeting in Albuquerque, N.M.
The ASRT is the world’s largest and oldest professional association for medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals. It provides its members with educational resources, lobbies for quality and safety standards and establishes practice parameters for the radiologic science profession.
As president, Temme will oversee the association’s efforts to enact the Consistency, Accuracy, Responsibility and Excellence in Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy bill. The CARE bill, which was introduced in Congress last fall, would set educational and certification standards for personnel who perform medical imaging exams or deliver radiation therapy treatments.
