UNMC has launched a new radiation oncology residency program.
The four-year program, which will be directed by Ken Zhen, M.D., professor of radiation oncology, officially kicks off in July when the first resident begins training at UNMC.

The program has received full accreditation from the American Councils for Graduate Medical Education and can facilitate up to four residents at any given time.
It will be one of about 70 radiation-oncology programs in the country.
“It took us a long time to build the ground work to this point,” Dr. Zhen said. “Being given full accreditation as a new program speaks for the high quality of this program and hard work by the faculty members and staff of this department at UNMC.”
