The Employee Self Service (ESS) Leave Request process has been enhanced.
So what do these changes mean to you?
- As an employee, if you have a pending request that is older than 30 days, you will not be able to submit a new request for any date; and
- As an employee, if you’ve cancelled an existing request and it’s awaiting your supervisor’s approval, you are unable to submit a new leave request for any date.
If either of these situations occurs, the solution is simple; you need to ask your supervisor to act on the pending request(s).
How can you help yourself?
Validate that you don’t have any pending requests. This can be done in Firefly by clicking “Employee Self Service” and then “Leave Requests.” Click the “View or Delete Leave Request” link and then review the status column. Contact your supervisor if you see a status of “Sent” as that indicates a pending request.
If you’re a supervisor, how can you help your staff?
Ensure that you don’t have any requests outstanding as those may impact your employee’s ability to submit a new request. Do this in Firefly by:
- Looking in the upper right corner;
- If you see “You have XX items in your Approval Inbox,” then you have open requests;
- If you have open requests, simply click the link to access and process your open requests.
Contact the Payroll Office 402-559-7460 if you have questions.
Interesting that a procedure that makes it more difficult for us to get leave requests approved or cancelled is described as an "enhancement!"
