UNMC Grants — Dr. Liu receives K25 grant from the NIH

picture disc.Yutong Liu,Ph.D., assistant professor in the department of radiology, has received a K25 training grant from the National Institutes of Health.

The grant — which Dr. Liu received on his first application submission — will provide Dr. Liu $700,000 over a five-year period to train in biomedicine. It also supports his research into the use of advanced MRI technology to study rodent models of HIV and associated neurodisorders.

Dr. Liu works under the guidance of Michael Boska, Ph.D., vice chairman for research in the department of radiology, and Howard Gendelman, M.D., chairman of the department of pharmacology and experimental neuroscience.

“Dr. Liu is an impressive researcher with a very promising future,” Dr. Boska said. “He is deserving of this grant and it will help him develop his potential as an investigator.”
