UNMC researchers are encouraged to apply for a newly announced funding opportunity through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) expects to award up to $80 million. The NIH seeks projects with budgets greater than $500,000 per year for three years.
The awards are being offered in five thematic areas:
- Applying genomics and other high throughput technologies;
- Translating basic science discoveries into new and better treatments;
- Using science to enable health care reform;
- Focusing on global health; and
- Reinvigorating the biomedical research community.
The research supported by the program should have short-term impact and a high likelihood of enabling growth and investment in biomedical research and development, public health and health care delivery.
Applications will be accepted from Feb. 15 through March 15.
In addition to this opportunity, NIH has recently issued four others, which can all be found on UNMC’s stimulus Web site.
Researchers who intend to apply should contact their grant specialist in Sponsored Programs Administration.
